Saint Porphyrios of Kavsokalyva said:
“Listen, Dimitri. I go down, I grab the child and say to her, ‘Get things ready so we can do a sanctification of the waters.’
She spread a towel on a table, put down a plate, and I read the Service of Sanctification. Her son, Yiannis G., well, he was mute — he couldn’t speak. I read the prayer with all my heart, with all my soul, and at the end, when I sprinkled him, as I said, ‘having the Holy Unmercenaries as a fountain of healings,’ Yiannis spoke.
Overjoyed, he kissed me, and I kissed him too; his mother kissed me as well — the wife of Hadji-G., you know, the one who had the coppersmith’s shop. Yiannis was healed, and afterward he came up to Saint Haralambos. Little Yiannakis wanted to stay with me - Yiannis G.
Listen, Dimitri! In those very days when this miracle happened, he came here to Achladeri and baptized a child and named him Porphyrios.”
S.: “Ah, from Mandraki.”
Fr. Porphyrios: “Yiannis G. A great miracle. Here in Petries there was a priest. The Bishop had transferred him to another village called Varnavas, and his wife and his daughter, Chrysavgi, remained here in Petries.
One evening she went to untie the goat, which they had tied among some thorn bushes so it could eat. It was getting dark. Chrysanthi went, untied it, brought it home, and made gestures to them.
She had seen something and became mute. The girl was mute for three months, Dimitraki. They brought her from Petries, and after learning from other women, they said, ‘Take her to Father Porphyrios so he can read prayers over her.’
So they learned about it and brought her to me, and I performed a Service of Sanctification for her. A great miracle — very great. Even I saw it for the first time. When I was performing the sanctification, Saint Haralambos was running with water. Listen, Dimitri. I don’t know, I can’t imagine that they had removed the silver covering they had put on him.”
S.: “They had, the year before last.”
Fr. Porphyrios: “The silver had little drops all over it, and one drop joined another and it ran down.
When I finished the sanctification and gave it to her to venerate, the little girl said:
‘Daddy, look, Saint Haralambos has water.’
I looked too; we made the sign of the Cross. Saint Haralambos was running with water — that is, you understand, sweating. Like when our forehead sweats, but much more. The girl was healed. Oh Dimitri, I recognized her just recently in Varnavas.”
