Questions and Answers on the Presanctified Liturgy - Part 5 (St. Symeon of Thessaloniki)

By St. Symeon, Archbishop of Thessaloniki

Question 59

Why is the Presanctified Liturgy not celebrated on other days of the year?

Answer

Presanctified should not be celebrated on days other than those established, because this has not been handed down to us. He who does contrary to what has been handed down is subject to the rule. “Keep,” says Paul, “the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle” (2 Thessalonians 2:15). The same must be observed regarding everything that has been handed down to us since the beginning.
