The Miraculous Grace of Saint Xenia of Kalamata

Saint Xenia, whose memory is honored on May 3rd, was born and martyred in Kalamata, during the time of the great persecution of Christians. She was beautiful, pious and very merciful. Because she refused to deny Christ and marry the Prefect Dometian, who even used magic to convince her, but failed, she was subjected to horrible torture, during which many miracles occurred, resulting in many pagans becoming Christians. In the end, she was beheaded, then they cut her body into pieces and had them burnt, while her heart was presented to the prefect on a platter, which is why in her icons she is usually depicted holding her heart in her left hand.

As stated in her Apolytikion, the Lord gave her the Grace to HEAL DISEASES OF THE HEART, DISSOLVE MAGIC AND TO EXPEL DEMONS. But also people PARALYZED, NEUROPATHIC, LUNATICS AND THOSE SUFFERING FROM VARIOUS SKIN DISEASES have been healed by her intercessions. She is also the PROTECTRESS OF CHILDREN, for whom there is a special prayer to her, as well as against MAGIC.

In the book "Thy Will Be Done" by Mr. George Mysiris, where various miraculous experiences of his are mentioned which concern Saint Raphael of Mytilene, we also read the following miracle of Saint Xenia (pp. 153-5), which is recorded here in summary:

On June 12th 1986, the feast day of the Ascension of the Savior, I was in the intensive care unit of the Athens Medical Center, due to a SERIOUS HEART ATTACK. That was it, I said: "My end has come."

However, the Lord, glorified be His name, seems to have had other plans. The second evening, I saw him in a vision, opposite my bed. On His right was Saint Nicholas of Myra in Lycia (whom my spiritual father prayed to for me) and on His left was Saint Xenia, who had a silver heart pinned to her heart. In front of Saint Nicholas was a mantelpiece with several lit candles (obviously those who were praying for my healing).

I stayed three days in the intensive care unit and another four in a room and they discharged me. The doctors could not explain how I recovered so quickly.

Since then I have been glorifying Saint Xenia of Kalamata, of whom I learned about her martyrdom afterwards and that she is very miraculous and a HEALER ESPECIALLY OF HEART DISEASES and I owe her great gratitude for the miracle she performed for me, although I did not invoke her. Since then I have not had any problems, as far as my heart is concerned.

The Grace of the Saint, which is truly very miraculous, is spreading day by day more and more. Her chapels exist today: In Kalamata (Parish of the Holy Trinity), in Agiasos of Lesvos, in Argos, in Kormpi Vari (Parish of Prophet Elias) etc. However, she is also celebrated in many parish churches, and in Kalamata, where she is particularly honored on the day of her feast, pilgrims come to her chapel by coach from other places, to honor her in the place where she was martyred.

Megalynaria

Rejoice, the beauty of victorious athletes, and the antidote of God for the EVIL EYE; rejoice, the abolisher of the MAGIC of envy, beseeching Christ, O Martyr, on behalf of your servants.

Those who kiss most reverently your revered icon, Crown-wearing Martyr, by your prayers protect O Xenia, those with DISEASES OF THE HEART AND NERVES, and LUNACY.

Having been touched by Divine Grace from God, save O Xenia those who call upon you with reverence, entreating you for BOILS and SKIN DISEASES and WARTS.

From the RETALIATION OF EVIL SPIRITS and their harm, protect those who with faith, hasten to your revered Protection and sacred Icon with prayers, all-majestic Xenia.
