A Miracle of the Holy Elder Porphyrios on the Second Sunday of Great Lent

In the first week of Great Lent in 1992, two or three months after the Dormition of the Elder [Porphyrios], I fell ill with a severe cold. As I didn't pay attention and take special care, I got worse.

I had purulent sinusitis. Eyes and nose were running non-stop, the headache was unbearable and I could no longer touch my nose. It was the Second Sunday of Great Lent, of Saint Gregory Palamas, and I was at Saint Demetrios of Ampelokipoi.

At one moment I thought I was going to pass out. I then let out a loud inner cry:

Did Saint Porphyrios Reveal the Location of the Lost Tomb of Alexander the Great?

In 2017 a book titled Venerable Porphyrios (Testimonies - Teachings - Counsels) was published in Greek, consisting of various testimonies of visitors and spiritual children of Saint Porphyrios of Kavsokalyva (+ December 2, 1991). According to one testimony recorded in this book, Saint Porphyrios even indicated where he believed the remains of Alexander the Great are located. This is what the testimony says:

"One day we went to visit him, and the Elder told us that with the gift he had since he was a young child, he could distinguish from far away the location of sources of water, holy relics, ancient temples and ancient tombs. Even regarding the tomb of Alexander the Great, he would tell us that it is neither in Egypt nor where they are looking, but it is here in Greece, in ancient Dion, and specifically in Katerini in Kontariotissa, next to the old church of the Panagia."

Saints Iakovos of Evia and Porphyrios of Kavsokalyva Appear in a Hospital in the United States

A [Greek] university professor had a serious heart attack. He went to the doctors to be examined and they told him that his condition is serious and nothing can be done. "You are doomed," they told him.

He, meanwhile, had a brother in America who called him and said:

"Come and let the doctors see you here."

So he goes to America, and the doctors there repeated to him what the doctors in Greece had told him.

Only one heart surgeon told him:

"Look, we can do a very risky operation, which if it succeeds you can be saved, but if it doesn't work, you may stay in the operating room. Do you want to do it?"

The Lamp of Your Life (St. Porphyrios of Kavsokalyva)

Elder Porphyrios of Kavsokalyva once foretold to one of his spiritual children that he would live so many years. When this man put his health at risk, the holy elder said to him that he could have died. Bewildered, he questioned the elder about how this agrees with the prediction given earlier. The elder replied: “What I told you is true. Nothing changed. The lamp of your life has oil for as many years as I told you, but if you drop it, the oil will spill and the lamp will go out! That is life! God gives us the precious gift of life; we accept it and are obliged to protect it, and not to expose it to dangers, especially senseless ones.
